When We Fish Again
After nearly two months in lockdown, we can now get out on banks, beaches and in boats, but only on a limited basis. To make sure the voice of angling was heard the Angling Trust lobbied the government with a detailed plan on angling resumption – details of this effort here www.anglingtrustcampaigns.net/blog/when-we-fish-again.
Now that the lockdown has been partially eased the Trust has issued guidelines on what we can and can’t do. More can be found here
In summary we are able go fishing in line with self-isolating regulations; beach fishing, kayaks and small boats are be allowed but you must only go out with a member of your own family. Beach fishing will be allowed as well although its likely most piers and harbour arms will remain closed. As I write some harbours and marinas are opening for leisure traffic so do check before making plans. Most sea angling clubs are also opening their compounds, if not their cab houses.
I would urge all anglers to think carefully about the safety aspects of going out to sea bearing in mind the strain the emergency services are under. Make sure your boat and engine are fully serviced and in good working order and you have all the necessary safety equipment on board.
Tight lines and enjoy our new freedoms.
